Countering the starving artist narrative

America's Equitable Fine Art Fair

BUTTER, a no commission art fair powered by AES Indiana, presents a new model for economic justice in the arts. Showcasing the works of emerging and established Black visual artists from Indiana and across the globe, the immersive, multi-day, fine art fair hosts thousands of guests each year to see and experience art and culture in new ways. As described by The New York Times, BUTTER Fine Art Fair serves as a new model for economic justice in the arts, aiming to sell or loan 100% of the exhibiting artworks, giving 100% of the proceeds to the artists.

Year five marks a major milestone for the BUTTER Fine Art Fair, which aims to eclipse $1 million in art sales. Tickets for the Labor Day Weekend event in Indianapolis are on sale now.

Art is not a department. Art is not a luxury. Art is our language. We are responsible for taking care of the artists in our society because they are taking care of us.
